Tameside Third Sector Summit
On Tuesday 2 November 2010, over 100 people attended Tameside’s Third Sector Summit, arranged by T3SC, to hear Steven Pleasant, Chief Executive of Tameside Council, speak about ‘What Big Society means for us’.
Steven highlighted the positive impact that voluntary and community activity has, and that research shows that areas with thriving VCF sectors are safer and more prosperous. Steven was followed by Seb Elsworth, Director of Strategy at ACEVO, the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations. Seb spoke about the role of the third sector in public service delivery, and that the real growth in the sector over the last 10 years has been because of this. He went on to say that we shouldn't underestimate the leadership skills that the sector needs to get through the next few years, or be afraid of taking risks.
Below you can view photos and listen to audio clips from the event and watch an interview with Seb Elsworth and vox pops from key figures in the community who attended.
