Proud Tameside was formed out of work done by Tameside 3rd Sector Coalition (T3SC) and the Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) during 2007-2008 with funding from ChangeUp Capacity Builders. The resulting report, ‘Supporting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities within Tameside’ created the framework within which the Proud Tameside LGBT Network took shape. Meetings take place every two months at T3SC offices in Ashton-under-Lyne. Details can be obtained from Anna Hynes at T3SC.

IDAHO day

Proud Tameside aims to:

  • Ensure an environment that welcomes and encourages LGBT people to have their say about services in Tameside and to raise awareness of their needs.
  • Identify services available to the LGBT communities in Tameside and raise awareness of how to access these.
  • Provide a basis for consultation with the LGBT communities by relevant organisations.
  • Promote a positive image of the LGBT communities in Tameside.
