The role is to work alongside Catering Director and Senior Management team to oversee the management of all aspects of the Park Cafe. This is our latest café, which complements our existing and planned catering ventures. As well as being a busy community café, it will offer Volunteers the opportunity to gain work experience, and learn catering skills to assist them into mainstream employment. There are plans to expand this role and become a catering academy assisting trainees to gain recognised QCF (formerly NVQ) qualifications.
The Café Chef Manager manages the entire food service and café operation. This includes menu planning, ordering and deliveries, kitchen and café cleanliness. The role involves money management, staff, trainee and volunteer management, health and safety management, publicity, food related course development and extra events in the café.
The role focuses on using locally sourced, seasonal, fair trade and, wherever possible, organic ingredients to create meals, snacks and drinks that are high quality, attractive and delicious tasting as well as nourishing. Locally sourced also includes vegetables and fruit from the organisation’s allotment project based in Tameside.
If you are an experienced Chef, have a previous track record of managing staff, running a kitchen, training volunteers across all learning levels, and are committed to the social care and green ethos of the organisation, we would like to hear from you.
