Breastfeeding Telephone Peer Supporter & Administrator   {13 May 2013} shim

Organisation: Home-Start

Salary: NJC Scale 14 - 17, 15,725 - 16,830 pro rata

Home-Start is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under 5 years of age.  We are currently working in partnership with The Breastfeeding Network (BfN) to deliver a breastfeeding peer support service to new mothers across the Tameside & Glossop area.

Home-Start are seeking to appoint a new Breastfeeding Peer Supporter to join their team. 
The peer supporter will have experience of supporting new mothers with breastfeeding and will have office skills including experience with Microsoft Office.  
The post will be largely office based with responsibility for contacting mothers after discharge from hospital and in the ensuing days and weeks in order to offer phone support, arrange home-visits if needed and to signpost to community support groups.  Cover in the community and on the hospital ward may be required at times.  
The role will involve a range of administrative tasks, including collating and recording a variety of information, maintaining databases and producing regular monitoring reports.

This post is initially funded until 31 March 2014, continuation is subject to funding.

Closing date: 10 June.   Interviews: 19 June.

Hours of work are 25 hours per week.  Job share will be considered.  A Criminal Record Disclosure (Enhanced) will be required.

Project Manager - Community Support Project  {13 May 2013} shim

Organisation: Tameside Sight

Salary: Salary Range 28,000 to 30,000 (pro rata)

Project Manager - Community Support Project
(Part Time - 23 hours per week)

Tameside Sight is a local charity supporting Blind and Partially Sighted people in Tameside, Greater Manchester. Its Community Support Project has been providing practical support services since it was established 12 years ago.

A Project Manager is sought to take over the running of the project from the current manager who will be retiring shortly. The Association has recently won further finance for the project up to January 2016, funded by the National Lottery through the BIG Lottery Fund and the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales. The Project Manager will manage the Project, 3 other staff and volunteers to ensure delivery of services to meet the agreed deliverables and outcomes. The post holder will report to the Chair and Trustees of Tameside Sight and work with them to establish further funding for the future. Good management experience is required and an interest in work in the disability and social care sector is highly desirable.

A good local support network exists in Tameside supporting this and similar organisations and excellent working links with related organisations have been built up. The charity maintains contact with over 700 people in Tameside with sight loss and 100 new referrals are received each year.

This position is financed by the BIG Lottery Fund and 2 references and a Disclosure and Barring Check are required.

Manchester Mind is looking to recruit someone to facilitate the running of our busy young persons' internet café (YASP). The Café Development Worker will ensure an inclusive environment, challenge negative behaviour and teach volunteers to cook. They will also be responsible for following all health and safety procedures.

Applicants should have a minimum experience of one year working with vulnerable people and experience of liaising with young people with mental health needs.

The post is funded by BIG Lottery Fund until September 2014.

Full Time Position, 37.5 hours per week each.  
Location:  Head Office (Blackburn) 
Fixed term contract until 30 May 2014, further extension dependent upon funding

Youth Action require a highly skilled individual with the ability to work with young people in the coordination project, training courses, as well as co-ordinating community activities at a grass rood community level.

You will also have skills in managing sessional staff, volunteers and in project monitoring evaluation. 
NCQ level 3 in Youth and Community Work or a relevant qualification in the field of working with children and young people is an essential requirement for this post.


You will need to be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings & weekends.
